Joan Evans Madsen

My passion and enthusiasm are in working with women who need the gentle support of another woman in working through the emotions and feelings that may arise in living with loss, finding a spiritual direction and providing bereavement support.

I am a retired elementary school teacher, with twenty-five years of service for the Jordan School District, Utah.  I attended the ACPE Pastoral Care Education program at St. Marks Hospital, Salt Lake City, Utah, and became a  hospital chaplain for ten years at St. Mark’s Hospital and Jordan Valley Medical Center, Salt Lake City, Utah. My volunteer experiences include hospice care at Vista Care Hospice in Salt Lake City, and currently I am the volunteer library coordinator at the Haleakalā Waldorf School, Kula, HI, on Maui.

Education: BA in Psychology from Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri, and an M.Ed from Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts.
